Our Australian friends and developers have gone too long without a TTS voice to represent their region, so we hopped to action and added both Grace and Alan to the list of available voices. While we were in there, we also added Veronica as yet another U.S. English alternative, because why not?

To listen to the new voices, give a call to 1 (661) 206-2653, or use Skype to call 990009369996162267 or a SIP phone to call sip:9996162267@sip.tropo.com – you can even call the app using Phono, our web browser client, by calling app:9996162267.

If you’re interested, the code for that app is a very simple Tropo Scripting app, written with JavaScript:

wait(1000); say("Hi, my name is Alan.", {voice:"alan"}); say("Hi, my name is Grace.", {voice:"grace"}); say("Hi, my name is Veronica.", {voice:"veronica"});

The wait(1000); is in there just to delay the playback by a second, to ensure the call is connected properly before starting the playback.
